ElementaryOS Review.

Elementary OS is a Linux distribution based on Ubuntu. It uses the pantheon environment for the desktop which is aesthetically pleasing and some what reminiscent of OS X. As far as Linux distributions go elementary os is fairly young and maintained by a small team of developers.

When you first boot into elementary you’ll notice the dock at the bottom of the screen where you can launch applications quickly. Just like a mac. Elementary OS is rather light in comparison to other distros when it comes to the software it’s bundled with. They have done this so they can keep a consistent look across the operating system. Beginners who are not familiar with Linux will feel comfortable navigating through different applications but the more comfortable they get the more they will realise that these programs are not enough. Linux Mint XFCE 

Quick overview of my Linux Mint XFCE desktop with the arc theme, moka icons and docky installed. Linux mint is one of the most popular distributions in the Linux world and comes with cinnamon as the default desktop environment. Other flavours include KDE, Mate and XFCE, which is what I’m using in the video below.
